Hayrides and Pumpkin Picking – Fall Activities in Wilmington NC & Surrounding Areas

During our first fall season after we had kids, I swore I had never been on so many hay rides collectively in my life!  Wilmington loves to celebrate our temperate fall season with fall festivals, hay rides, and pumpkin picking.  These are fun ways to celebrate with family, friends, and others in our community.  Most of the schools have their own fall festivals which are also fundraisers for the PTAs.  The kids absolutely love those.  Here are some other upcoming fall and Halloween inspired events:

Pumpkin Patch

When it comes to pumpkin picking (or just choosing, I guess), the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch at the corner of College Rd and Peachtree Ave. is a must-stop on the lists of many Wilmington residents.

Mike’s Farm

Located in Beulaville NC in Onslow County, Mike’s Farm is a favorite for hay rides, farm animals, country cooking, pumpkin picking, and enjoying the open country air.

Poplar Grove Halloween Festival

Hay rides, haunted hay rides, a fun house, bouncy castles galore, and carnival games are favorites at the annual Poplar Grove festival.

Maze Craze

We had an awesome time visiting Maze Craze in Hallsboro, North Carolina a couple years ago. Our boys loved finding clues sprinkled throughout their 13 acre maze and they had lots of other cool activities including hay rides, barrel train rides (driven surprisingly fast by teenagers – which the kids liked), and assorted games. We loved it and it’s a perfect spot for older kids who might be a little bored in the pumpkin picking/petting zoo alternatives

I’ll be posting on more Halloween inspired events in Wilmington coming up.  If I missed one of your favorite fall festivals, please be sure to leave a comment and let me know about it.

Thanks and enjoy!
