The George

At The George, you can enjoy everything  from brunch to a full martini menu. This place is truly something spectacular for tourists and locals alike.

The George is named after King George III who once ruled the Cape Fear River, which also mirrors the name of George Coffin who built and opened the restaurant in 2004. That being said, August of 2014 will mark The George’s 10 year anniversary. Celebrating 10 years of excellent service, new friends and unforgettable experiences. “What matters most is that at the end of your meal, you feel relaxed, satisfied and befriended,” says Julie McDonald, the restaurant’s general manager.

All the staff always seem so happy to be there and the management is absolutely excellent. Each member of the wait-staff proudly wears the name of the city they’re from on their name tag, celebrating the guests from all over who have found themselves together at The George.

Best known for inventive seafood entrees built around fresh, high quality ingredients, The George also serves up incredible steaks, pork chops, and pasta, among other options. Come for brunch (Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 3 pm) and you’ll be hard pressed to select just one of the delicious choices. The answer to this dilemma? Come often and bring friends!

Our Two Cents

Sitting on the riverfront deck of The George, enjoying a great glass of wine, some amazing seafood, the sunshine & breeze off the river, and maybe even some live music…it’s tough to imagine a better way to spend an afternoon!

When looking for somewhere to dine with our dog, a local referred me to The George. Upon being seated, the waitress greeted us first thing with an icy water bowl for our panting little puppy. The welcoming appeal of The George is just one of the many qualities that make it so special.
